5 things to do with a newly purchased computer

personal computer

A new computer needs some initial maintenance: from updates to file recovery programs, here are some tips to put into practice.

Your computer has broken or is no longer performing as before. So you bought a new one or think about it soon. Whether it’s a notebook or a desktop device, before you start using it, be sure to pay attention to some important items.

Although the temptation to “discover” the new device is very high – understandable, especially if it is a latest computer – it is advisable to put into practice the arrangements. And you should start right away after turning on your PC for the first time. Doing a series of actions – which will be described in detail – is risky for both your personal data and the stability of your computer or laptop. For example, we might be attacked by hackers, which would really do little to infect the machine with a malware. As a result, we may lose the saved data and damage the device.

So, as an old saying goes, prevention is better than curing. And doing prevention means above all to do these simple tips.

Update your antivirus

Most new computers have a preinstalled security program. Microsoft has Windows Defender. Sometimes it is the same PC manufacturing house purchased to provide one in default. However, the first thing to do is update the antivirus. The reason is simple: Security software works by comparing a malicious file with a signature store that contains virus definitions. If it is obsolete, the antivirus may not recognize the threat.

Upgrade your computer

Same speech also for the computer. Microsoft releases many updates on a regular basis, some to help improve security or fix some vulnerabilities. A new computer may not understand the latest update. Go to Windows Update and check if updates are available (remember also to check if your computer is set to download them automatically).

Install a Recovery Program

For a variety of reasons, you may lose data stored in memory. For example, we delete an important file by mistake. In these cases, it is useful to have a recovery program installed on your computer, which in a few steps allows us to return the deleted file to the PC, which, as it is known, never completely disappears from the hard disk.

Install your favourite games

One of the most important things is the best games on your computer. So download free games or play them online. One of my favourite – slots machine. More about progressive slots here.

Subscribe to a cloud storage service

On the internet there are several platforms that offer, even in a free way, cloud storage services. It can be a useful solution for several reasons. They allow us to save the files to an alternative location on the hard drive so if the computer breaks we can always get back the data. They allow us not to take up space on the hard disk and above all give us the ability to access files from anywhere and device.

Make room in memory

Microsoft and computer manufacturers preinstall not only antivirus but also a number of programs. Some of these software may not be useful. So, it makes no sense to keep them in memory. Be careful, however, not to delete programs and files useful to your system to work.
